German Apple Bread

I got this recipe from my sister-in-law; she made it while visiting, and it was very good. The instructions say DO NOT DOUBLE RECIPE.

Ingredients
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening (95 grams or 3.35 oz)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup apples peeled and chopped
1-1/2 tablespoons evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts

Topping
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 deg. Whisk cinnamon, flour, baking soda, and salt together.

2. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Stir in apples, milk, vanilla and mix well.

3. Mix in dry ingredients and nuts. Pour into greased bread loaf pan (9 in x 5 in). Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter.

4. Bake at 350 deg for one hour (it will look dark when finished).
