I have two methods for making hard boiled eggs. I've been using the Instant Pot method for a long time but recently ran across the steamed method from Serious Eats. I haven't tried that method as of this writing but it seems more convenient.
Perfect Steamed Boiled Eggs (Serious Eats)
The description claims this is the best way to ensure easy-peeling.
1. Add 1 inch of water to a large pot. Place steamer insert inside, cover, and bring to a boil over high heat. Add eggs to steamer basket, cover, and continue cooking, 6 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 12 minutes for hard-boiled.
2. Meanwhile, prepare a bowl of ice water. When time is up put eggs in ice water for at least 15 minutes before peeling.
Instant Pot Boiled Eggs
This is called the 5-5-5 method.
1. Put eggs on the trivet in the Instant Pot (I use my 6-qt pot and a trivet that holds up to 7 eggs).
2. Pour in 1 cup water.
3. Lock lid and set for "Manual High Pressure 5 minutes".
4. After the 5 minutes let them undergo a natural pressure release for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare an ice bath.
5. After 5 minutes of natural pressure release move the pressure valve to "Venting" to release remaining pressure. When de-pressurized, pop lid and put eggs in ice water for five minutes.
