From an AOL article. The writer's grandmother-in-law (ie, husband's grandmother) makes this cake. The article made it sound like a family jewel, that people would visit Lorraine just for the cake, and that Lorraine would have to make multiple cakes because family members would steal cakes and hide them. It's a VERY a simple recipe, the ingredients are always on hand, and it's basically built around cinnamon which I love, so I thought I'd give it a try.
Ingredients
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar (large amount for such a small cake)
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. melted butter
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Sift the flour. Mix dry and wet ingredients in separate bowls, then combine. Pour into a buttered 8" square pan and bake at 400 degrees for 20 - 30 minutes. Try to wait to eat it until it's cool enough to handle.
